My 2016 in Music

We can all agree that 2016 was probably the worst year the Earth has ever seen. Seemingly everything went wrong, way to many icons died, and Donald Trump was elected to round it all out.

But, 2016 brought along some amazing music. There was no new One Direction album but I think I can live.

Spotify has a year in review for every genere and based on what the world listened. I love how they even give you a personal playlist that includes the songs you streamed the most over the year.

I pretty much depended on Spotify while I was spending countless hours studying, writing blog posts, and spending way too much time on Tumblr. Spotify is my favorite music app for the computer as Apple Music/iTunes does not work too well on my PC.

With all that listening, this year I spent probably the most time streaming with Spotify than in my entire life. (I still depend on Apple Music on the go though)

Spotify curated my playlist and this is what it looks like…

I’m so glad my top 5 at least came out this year! I had a real bad habit of listing to some oldies but goodies all the time.

I’d have to say some of my favorite songs this year were a little unusual to what I’d normally listen to. I’ve gotten huge into pop, even more than normal, this year.

If you can’t tell The Chainsmokers, Daya, Hailee Steinfeld, and Little Mix released some of my favorite songs this year. They were pretty much on every monthly playlist I put out this year. No shame.

My favorite album that came out this year has to be Daya’s Sit Still Look Pretty. I’m honestly in love with Daya and can’t wait to see her in March when she comes to Detroit! If you haven’t listened to the masterpiece that is Daya’s debut, be sure to check out my review of it!

Another one of my favorite albums that dropped in 2016 would be Double Dare, Waterparks debut album. Why I never got around to writing a review on this, I have no idea. But, it’s a great album if you love pop-Punk like I do. Highly recommend you check this one out!

There were so many great singles that graced our ears over the last 12 months. From Louis Tomlinson’s collab with Steve Akoi for Just Hold On, Little Mix’s Zayn dis-track Shout Out To My Ex, Niall’s solo endeavors with This Town, to my new faves Hey Violet and Fuqboi. I had to make an entire playlist dedicated to my favorite single songs for this past year!

I had so many favorites that happened this year. What were your faves from this year? Be sure to leave them in the comments!
